Donny Boyd joined the Division in April of 1996. His roots are right here in Whatcom County; growing up in the Laurel area provided him with valuable knowledge of the county's geography and climate. Don earned his degree and Commission as a Second Lieutenant in the Air Force at the University of Washington.

During his 20 years on active duty Donny was stationed at Vance, Barksdale, Fairchild, Sembach, Ramstein, Minot; and he accumulated more than three thousand hours as a pilot in the B-52. He attended various "train the trainer" and instructor courses, and also completed Squadron Officers School and Air Command & Staff College.  A summary of Air Force Jobs includes: Emergency Actions Officer HQ USAFE, Operations Briefing Team HQ USAFE; and Flight Commander, Instructor Pilot, Chief Bomber Training Flight, Avionics Squadron CC, Base Environmental Engineer during seven years at Minot AFB, ND.

He completed his Washington State Emergency Management Professional Development Series in the spring of 1998, plus all available FEMA/EMI home study courses. He received credentials as a "Certified Emergency Manager" (CEM) with the International Association of Emergency Managers in December 1999 (re-certified in December 2004) and is also a credentialed "Registered Environmental Professional" with the National Registry of Environmental Professionals. Donny rounds out his varied experience as a Hazardous Materials Technician, an Emergency Medical Technician affiliated with the Lynden Fire Department and as a Reserve Deputy Sheriff with the Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office.

He is married to Michelle, a Deputy Sheriff with Whatcom County, and daughter Erika (12) lives in the family home at 1036 Liberty St, Lynden, WA  98264 (360-815-5807).  Donny has two older sons, Chris (27) and Zach (24) that live in the local area.  Granddaughter Abby (2) also lives in Lynden.

Donny holds life memberships with: Daedalians (the National Fraternity of Military Pilots), The University of Washington Alumni Association and Phi Gamma Delta Fraternity.
